How to Speed up Weight Loss!

Lisa Wolny | How to Speed up Weight Loss!

Having good solid habits is critical to achieving weight loss. In this post, we'll teach you 4 key ways to boost your weight loss.

Weight is an issue with so many people, whether you have 5lbs, 50lbs, or 150lbs to lose. It’s not that one number is harder than the other, because someone with 5lbs to lose may struggle with weight loss as much as someone carrying an extra 100lbs.

Your physical health is so important: if you get your physical health in check everything else will fall into place. You’ll have more energy and start firing on all cylinders.

1. Banish Stressors

The first thing I did was work on decreasing my stress. You’re probably wondering how that is relevant, but I promise that it is. When you’re stressed you tend to eat more, you don’t sleep well, and your cortisol levels may skyrocket. I want to help you to get out of survival mode and get into thrive mode!

Here are a few things you can do to decrease your stress levels:

  • Go for a walk
  • Start some kind of light exercise
  • Take a yoga class
  • Make sure you are sleeping 7-8hrs/night

2. Pick An Exercise You Love And Do It Consistently

To get great weight loss results you do not need to kill yourself in the gym 6 days a week. Pick an activity that you love, whether that’s going for a hike, swimming, or even something a little different like axe throwing. Whatever it takes to get you moving! Even just 20 minutes of activity will help. It will get the endorphins going and help you feel better. You will see your mood improve and your energy increase.

You may have heard this advice time and time again, but I’m challenging you to actually follow it. Start small and build good habits. Stay consistent and you will see a difference. It helps to have an accountability support system whether that's a spouse, a friend, or a community group. If you feel like you can’t do it alone reach out! 3. Cut Out Snacking

One critical part of achieving weight loss and getting the results you want is to cut out night time snacking completely. For me this was a challenge! Don’t eat after 6:30pm unless you are a shift worker or you’re working late into the night. Try to eat your carbs at the front end of your day as opposed to at dinner. Having something lean like a chicken breast with veggies would be a great evening meal as long as you have your carbs with breakfast or lunch. It is so important to eat enough at the beginning of the day as opposed to at night. When we don’t eat enough earlier we get hungrier at night and this can sabotage us.

4. Boost Your Weight Loss Results With Water

The last key tip to weight loss is to drink water, water, water, water, and some more water! It will help flush things out that have been accumulating in your system. It’s like cleaning your car air filter. It is recommended to drink half your body weight in lbs in ounces of water. However, if you’re exercising, you need to add additional water, especially if you sweat a lot.

I wanted to celebrate two milestones for myself that came up this week: (1) two years of Isagenix and (2) 6 months chewing tobacco free. To a large extent 1 leads into 2. Back in April 2016, I was in a real difficult space trying to find the energy to balance a corporate career with the day-to-day challenges of a wife and a family of 4 kids. I was incredibly fortunate to have a the support of Christy and a rock-em sock-em hockey mom and great friend in Lisa Wolny to get my mindset sorted out and take control of my health and diet. That moment two years ago has really been a turning point for me and our family.

And yes, I’m confident that many of you were asking yourself “WTF is Enwright doing posting pics with his shirt off?” Believe me, I get it. I was as uncomfortable as hell from behind my keyboard. Same time I knew I had friends that shared similar challenges with their diet and lacked the energy just as I had.

More than just losing the weight – which has been incredible - the best part from these past two years has been helping my friends get their mindset straight in understanding the importance of a healthy diet and offering a program that can work for them. And with that focus on mindset, it has really helped me in breaking my chewing tobacco addiction. Six months is the longest I’ve ever been without dip and honestly, it feels to be able to taste food again. Nicotine is a wicked addiction and I’m just appreciative of all the people that have helped me overcome it and put dip in my rearview mirror.

So with that, thank you to my friends and family for the support and sharing your stories along the way these past two years – I’m incredibly grateful!
